Abstract :
We propose a photonic bandgap (PBG) sandwich structure in which a periodic pattern of square metal pads is printed in the middle of the substrate. Neither drilling nor suspending the substrate is required, and the integrity of the ground plane is also kept. Several circuits with different locations of the periodic lattice are compared, and potential applications are demonstrated.
