Abstract :
We extend our previous work of Fossorier, Xiong and Zeger (see Proc. ICIP´98, Chicago, IL, 1998) to progressive video coding for a power constrained Gaussian channel. Using an embedded 3-D SPIHT video source coder, we consider the optimum allocation of transmission rate, source coding rate, and channel code rate under a given power constraint. Experiments show that the performance of our proposed coding system is excellent even at a low transmission rate and bad channel conditions.
