Abstract :
Electrical-grade insulating tapes, pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) tapes that consist of an electrically insulating backing and bonding adhesive are discussed. Electrical grade applies to insulating tapes that are manufactured by processes which minimize or eliminate contaminants that may cause electrolyte corrosion. Insulating tapes are constructed of materials which balance the electrical and mechanical requirements of a specific application. The tapes must remain physically and chemically stable in the presence of heat, humidity, and electrical stress. In selecting the appropriate pressure-sensitive adhesive tape for use in a component assembly process, the design engineer must assess the criteria and functional performance of that tape in the application
