Abstract
This paper details the European Commission funded INTERSAFE-2 project´s rationale, system architecture and specifications. It explains the different modes of operation of the system required for different complexity of intersections and how the architecture is designed to be flexible enough to cope with this. It then details the three individual vehicle demonstrators including the safety functions they will implement and the sensors chosen for them. The infrastructure sensors and operation are then described before finally discussing some options for human-machine-interface (HMI) and actuation.
