Abstract :
This paper presents a new license plate location algorithm, which employs color and texture features. Firstly, a simple license plate searching algorithm is designed to get the location by mathematical morphology operations and color. Finally, a precise location is obtained according to texture features. The experimental results show that this algorithm is reliable and accurate. Especially, the method is robust to images with poor illumination or complex backgrounds.
