Abstract
This paper presents the design and experimental studies on miniaturized internal antennas for WLAN applications covering the frequency bands of 2.4-2.5/5.15-5.725 GHz. The proposed low profile dual ISM band antennas utilize the novelties of both the PIFA and the meander line element. Unlike a PIFA, the proposed dual band design does not consider a ground plane underneath the radiating element. Likewise, the proposed antenna with meandered profile has a shorting strip connecting the radiating element to the ground plane. The impedance bandwidth, the gain characteristics and the radiation efficiency of the proposed dual ISM band internal antennas are also discussed in this paper.
