Abstract
Performance of a maximal ratio combining receiver has been analyzed in independent Hoyt fading channels for an arbitrary number (L) of branches. Mathematical expressions for the probability density function of the combiner output signal-to-noise ratio, amount of fading, outage probability and the average bit error rate performance for binary, coherent and non-coherent modulations have been presented. A study on the upper bound of the truncation error of the expressions containing infinite series has been provided. Obtained expressions have been numerically evaluated and plotted. A study on the effect of the fading parameter and the number of diversity branches on the receiver performance has also been presented.
