  • Abstract
The caudal-fin-type valveless piezoelectric pump (CVPP), which differentiates the volumetric and the rotating pump, has broad applications in aeronautics and astronautics, chemistry, medical, agriculture and so on. For the enhancement of the working ability and the depth of understanding the substantial operating principle of the CVPP, the optimized geometric parameters of the device have been presented in this paper. Firstly, expounding the structure design and elaborating the operating principle of oscillating vibrator in this paper. In addition, theoretical model is established and theoretical flow rate is also obtained by analyzing the operating principle of CVPP. Lastly, the relationships between oscillating vibrator parameter and the working ability of pump are conducted by FEM software, vibration measurement and pressure head experiments. According to the consequence of experimental studies, we can see that the results of the vibration frequencies show that the maximum errors of the numerical simulation compared with vibration measurement and pressure head experiments were 21.73% and 23.55%, and the minimum errors were 10.15% and 12.12% respectively. Then the working mode of vibration calculated by numerical simulation is identical with the result of vibration measurement experiment, and the optimal length of the vibration limb for oscillating vibrator is 35 mm, which is under the condition of maximum water pumping by pressure head experiment. Experimental results verified that the working ability of the caudal-fin-type valveless piezoelectric pump could be effectively enhanced by optimizing the parameters of the oscillating vibrator.
