  • Abstract
The characteristics of composite backscattering from a target above a one-dimensional and two-dimensional oceanic surface are investigated with the diffraction of the target fringe taken into account. The backscattering radar cross section (RCS) of the oceanic surface is calculated by the Small Slop Approximation (SSA). The backscattered field of a target is computed based on the equivalent edge currents for geometrical theory of diffraction (GTDEEC). In addition, the reciprocity theorem method and the GTDEEC are employed to educe the coupling scattered field from a target above a two-dimensional oceanic surface. The numerical results of the composite backscattering RCS from a combinational object above a one-dimensional oceanic surface are in good agreement with experiment data. Finally, the numerical results about composite backscattering RCS from a cone-cylinder above a two-dimensional oceanic surface are presented.
