Abstract :
We discuss robust simulation-driven optimization methodologies for the design of various transition structures, including microstrip-to-coplanar and coplanar waveguide-to-substrate integrated waveguide transitions. Our techniques exploit coarsely-discretized electromagnetic models of the transition structures under consideration. By proper management of such models and/or appropriate adjustment of the design requirements, optimized values for the geometry parameters can be obtained at a low computational cost. Design examples are presented.
