Abstract :
The transient shielding effectiveness (SE) which originally has been defined for incident plane waves is investigated for the case of canonical near-field sources. For elementary sources (Hertzian and Fitzgerald dipoles, Huygens source) normalization factors are introduced such that the transient SE can be calculated from measured values of the standard electric and magnetic SE for any arbitrary form of the incident impulse. Numerical results are presented for a shielding structure consisting of a rectangular box with an aperture.
