Abstract
Calculation of the electric field vector of a horizontal Hertz dipole (HED) is a fundamental step in a moment method based electromagnetic model for high frequency behavior of energized conductors. This paper presents an approximation of the Sommerfeld integrals that arise in the exact formulation of electric field due to HED within homogenous earth. The approximation is based on the quasi-static approximation and the method of complex images.
