Abstract
A novel compact meander slot microstrip antenna is proposed, to achieve miniaturization of the antenna and suppression of harmonics. To obtain these characteristics, a meander typed slot radiator and open-ended T-shaped conductor line located in the meander slot are used. The size of the antenna is 6.7/spl times/4.15 mm at a center frequency of 5.3 GHz, and the measured real parts of the input impedance at the second and third harmonic frequencies are nearly zero. From measured radiation E-plane patterns, both the second and third harmonic suppression are approximately less than -30 dB. In the H-plane, the second and third harmonic suppression are observed approximately less than -30 and -35 dB, respectively.
