Abstract :
In the present investigation, the dielectric property of a new composite material is studied using the grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPWG) technique over a broad frequency range at X-band microwave frequencies for its application as a substrate material in microwave passive devices. The substrate material is fabricated by reinforcing NiFe2O4 particles in different volume fractions into low density polyethylene (LDPE) matrix. Microstructural studies are performed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to study the size and distribution of the inclusions in the matrix. The real part of complex permittivity of the NiFe2O4-LDPE composite material with 2% and 4% volume fractions over a frequency range in X-band is found to be within 1.594 to 2.15 and loss tangent to be order of 10-4-10-3.
