Abstract
In order to resolve the problem of loading mass terrain data in airborne radar real beam ground map (RBGM), multi-resolution terrain database and data loading tactic is designed, which meets the demand of terrain resolution in different range and reduces the system memory consumption. By using and optimizing Terrain defilade algorithm which is fit for far distance condition, whether a ground echo unit is defiladed or not is judged exactly. A look-up table method with backward operation is introduced to solve coordinates transformation for PPI display. After these are used in an airborne radar simulator, the result shows the radar image had high fidelity.
