Abstract :
Summary form only given. The present paper describes our results on the phase transformation (from crystalline to glassy phase) of both, pristine and substituted W-type hard barium hexaferrites (BaCoxZn2-xFe16O27) into a soft ferrite by the application of magnetic field at microwave frequency (2.45 GHz). Polycrystalline samples of the W-type hexaferrite, synthesized by citrate precursor route and calcination, have been processed in a magnetic field in a single mode microwave cavity for a short duration of 10 min. The structural, microstructural and magnetic studies on the calcined samples have been compared with those on magnetic field processed samples. The powder X-ray diffractogram of the calcined specimen confirms the single phase formation with hexagonal structure, while that of magnetic field processed pellet shows decrystallization of the specimen.
