  • Abstract
    In this study, a mechanistic model of a chemical dosing unit is proposed to facilitate the applications of advanced control strategy for coagulation process in water treatment plants. The procedures adopted in this study may be extended successfully to other coagulant dosage systems using different types of coagulants and pH adjustment chemicals. The simulation results indicate that the model is satisfactory. In addition, the results of statistical and residual analysis tests carried out on the proposed model based on the available historical data showed that deviations between simulation model output and real data collected from the plant is minimal.
