Abstract
This paper proposes a direct power control of a two level active front-end rectifier, which in contrast of standard implementation, the starting angle of each sector is variable (VSA-DPC). Depending on operation conditions the applied switching state could not produce the active and reactive power variation required to reach the power references, moreover it can produce the opposite effect. Using these moving sectors it is possible to ensure that always the applied switching state will produce the correct power change. The analysis shows that the optimal angle in which the sector starts can be calculated using the input voltage and DC voltage amplitudes. Further optimization can be achieve using the system parameters and the calculated active and reactive power. Simulation results show the performance of the proposed approach compared to standard direct power control.
