Abstract :
Illustrates the use of an iterative technique for solving Ax=b where A is large and sparse. This technique can be used for both load flow and transient stability analysis. In the latter case, these linear equations result from algebraizing the nonlinear differential equations. Simulation results for a 10 machine 39 bus power system are presented on a Convex and an IBM RS 6000 machine. The simulation of a Hopf bifurcation using this method is compared with the EPRI-ETMSP program
