Abstract :
To provide short-range super-resolution UWB Radar under multi-scattering conditions, an advanced wavefront detection algorithm is proposed in this paper. Conventional pulse separation methods, i.e. correlation based algorithms based on SAGE or CLEAN and genetic algorithms based on evolutionary optimization strategies are revised, validated and compared. Based on vast practical experiences with both methods a novel wavefront extraction algorithm is proposed which yields the advantages of both algorithms while simultaneously mitigating appropriate drawbacks. By subsequently applying a corresponding imaging algorithm, which performs highly robust in multi-scattering short-range scenarios, experimental results are presented in terms of UWB Radar Images. All validations are carried out based on two complex test objects with small shape variations relative to the used wavelength, an M-sequence Radar device and double ridged horn antennas.
