Abstract :
Based on the propagation loss characteristics of the ARROW, new structures for coupling from ARROW to photodiode were proposed and studied. In particular, we discussed two IC compatible methods of coupling. It was found that high coupling efficiencies can be obtained with a small photodiode length (400 μm) for a waveguide core thickness of 4μm without the need for special antireflection material layers
