Abstract :
The comparison of the signal-to-clutter ratio for small targets against the background of a rough sea surface is performed for FMCW and pulse radar. It is shown that due to leakage of a clutter through side lobes of ambiguity function, the efficiency of the FMCW is noticeably worse than for the pulse radar which receives distributed clutter from a rough sea surface only within a resolution cell.
