Abstract :
A number of potential `roadblocks´ encountered in the physical construction of optical and hybrid access networks are reviewed. Examples are drawn from UK experience of differing access network cable infrastructures. Solutions are listed for copper pair, optical fibre and coaxial cable networks showing that few, if any, of the problems are insurmountable
