Abstract :
The utilisation of pulse position modulation (PPM) as a coding format for the optical wireless (OW) channel offers numerous advantages including low average power and increased receiver sensitivity. PPM is a time format that can be significantly impaired by signal jitter resulting from the OW channel noise and receiver noise. The performance is evaluated under jitter and attention is given to the design of the synchronising PLL and to the selection of the optimum system parameters
