Abstract :
This paper reported the effectiveness of applying dual-polarized antennas to the base station, and both the base station and terminals in terms of downsizing the base station antennas for SDMA systems based on the measured propagation characteristics. As a result, when applying the dual-polarized antenna array to the base station, the antenna size is almost half that of the conventional vertically polarized antenna array. Moreover, when applying the dual-polarized antenna configuration to both the base station and terminals, the antenna size can be greatly reduced. For example, when the multiplexing number is four, the antenna size is almost one fifth that when using the dual-polarized antenna for only the base station by using the dual-polarized antenna for both the base station and terminals.
