Abstract :
This paper investigates the start-up process of automotive HID lamps with digital controlled electronic ballast. In order to prevent the lamp from extinguishing after ignition, an improved DC operation mode is presented. In addition, the transition between different control strategies is optimized to accelerate the response of the DC-DC converter. Experimental results have been carried out to verify the function of the proposed solutions.
