Abstract :
This paper describes the analysis and design of a dual-band planar inverted F antenna for laptop computers. This antenna has desirable characteristics for use in IEEE802.11b and IEEE802.11a wireless LAN. The computed results (required gain, input characteristics and far-field pattern) are given. The dual-band planar inverted F antenna, mounted in a laptop computer has been demonstrated to operate in the 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz bands with |S/sub 11/| less than -9.5 dB.
