  • Abstract
A three-dimensional macrocell propagation model is presented in this paper. It takes into account multipath propagation and can be used for an improved estimation of received power and of relevant parameters describing the frequency selectivity and the time variance of the radio channel. Comprehensive measurements were performed to validate the model. Wideband measurements performed in an Alpine region around Garmisch-Partenkirchen are compared with values predicted by the propagation model. Results for received power, power-delay profiles, scattering function and the Q16-parameter are given. The comparison indicates that only three-dimensional models are adequate for the planning of mobile communication networks in mountainous areas
