Abstract
According to a survey and further study, three main service providers, named CNKI, Wanfang Data Co. and Chongqing VIP Information Co,, currently dominate the online China journal market They offer access to "China academic journal", "Digital journals group of China" and "Database of scientific and technologic journals in Chinese" databases respectively. As a result, these three oligarchs compete with one another. Their characteristics and strategies are analyzed by applying the game theory. Their sales revenue has been on steady increase over the past years. Today, they are looking at new opportunities to market their huge deal of journal data and other information resources on a larger scale. But when comparing with world-class tycoon in the field, such as Dialog, OCLC, Elsevier Science Direct Online, these three companies and all other Chinese service providers in the field still have a long way to go.
