Abstract :
This study analyzes Controlled Auto-Ignition (CAI) combustion with numerical model which was mainly built by AVL-BOOST coupled with CHEMKIN. The prototype is a single-cylinder engine with Variable Compression Ratio (VCR). By utilizing in-cylinder exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) strategy for combustion control, effect of compression ratio (CR) on engine operating range, gas exchange process and combustion process was studied. A prediction of the effect was obtained and the reason was discussed in the paper. The conclusions of this work will be a guide for later engine experiments.
