Short-circuit studies and coordination studies (what, why and when are they needed)

This technical paper discusses two topics of prime importance to all facilities. The first topic is that of performing short-circuit studies and calculations on power systems. The second topic of importance is the coordination study and development of protective device settings. A brief review of a power system is included to point out the importance of these two studies
