Abstract :
This paper presents the preliminary results of a study on the adoption of B2B platform in retail firms in China. Our focus is on clarifying whether and to what extent differences, such as organizational culture and government regulatory play roles in the information technology adoption. Based on Tornatsky and Fleischer´s (1990) technology-organization-environment framework, the factors investigated are environmental, organizational, technological context. Seven hypotheses are formed and the survey is made among the top 100 retail firms in China. At the time of writing, the data collection is still in process, the expected outcomes will have implications for retailers themselves, information technology vendors and governments.
