Abstract :
A self-oscillating power converter circuit utilizing three reactive elements is described. This converter operates above the resonant frequency to produce zero voltage switching. The reactive elements in the circuit accommodate the parasitics of the transformer to minimize the design constraints on it. Circuitry is included to minimize the frequency variations and improve the regulation without compromising the simplicity of the circuit. The basic operation of the circuit is examined, and data are presented on a 120 V AC input, 40 W output example
