Abstract
In many complex systems, particularly those with remote sensors, actuators and control processors locations, the closed-loop control is often implemented via a communication network. The closed-loop system thus may face the problem of induced random delays caused by the network. These delays would deteriorate the system performance as well as its stability. The problems get more complicated when the possibility of queue formation is considered for closed loop data transmission. In this paper, the authors propose a non-switching control scheme for the systems with a communication network and queues, using the jump system approach. The open loop linear system with random delays can be enclosed by a set of finite-dimensional, linear, discrete-time dynamic structures. These randomly varying structures can be described as a jump process
