Abstract
The basic technology of the sensor network has been developed and passed about 10 years now and it has become an important problem how the technology should be utilized for the general public. Various experiments for practical applications of sensor networks that are currently underway are often targeting urban areas or areas where stable network infrastructure could be built. However, the situation is that it is difficult for the communication network to get a power supply easily from the start in the rural mountainous areas with many conditional disadvantages. It is the fact that it is also difficult to easily build the infrastructure of the sensor network from geographical conditions such as the mountains and forests. However, we claim that the situation that the benefit of the sensor network technology would be restricted only because of the locations, urban or mountainous areas should be avoided. In this study, we pay our attention to the use of the sensor network technology in the mountain area and propose the forestry worker support system with a head mount display (HMD). With this system, a forestry worker can refer to the current position information, disaster information, etc., in mountainous areas in real time. In addition, workers are moving in the mountains by using HMD and can acquire necessary information with both hands free for work.
