An empirical study on technological progress, technical efficiency change and economic growth in North-East of China

Abstract :
In this paper, author applies the frontier production function approach to analyze the economic growth happened in North East of China with the panel data of three provinces in north-east of China during the period 1978 to 2008. Author finds that the contribution of input factors in the process of economic growth is decreasing gradually, and the contribution of total factor productivity is strong more and more. At the same time, the technological progress of North-East of China is growth continually, however, the technical efficiency grow slowly. This performance might effect on the sustainable growth of the North East of China in future. Moreover, author finds that in the process of the change of technical efficiency, foreign direct investment have positive effect on technical efficiency, and capital-deepen is negative relative with the change of technical efficiency.
