Abstract :
Experimental research of attenuation due to hydrometeors at 58 GHz was launched in December 2000 in the frame of collaboration of TESTCOM and the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) AS CR. The first results from the first year period of observation were presented. The obtained records of fading were compared with the concurrent meteorological situation and "attenuation due to individual hydrometeors" was distinguished. The cumulative distributions of attenuation due to hydrometeors were obtained and the influence of individual hydrometeors on cumulative distributions was assessed. The obtained cumulative distributions of rain intensities measured at both sites of the path were presented. The cumulative distributions of attenuation due to rain calculated in accordance with corresponding ITU-R recommendation were compared with the measured ones.
