Abstract :
A thermally and mechanical vibratingly accelerated life test of low voltage stator windings in three-phase induction motors using for ordinary elevator equipments was investigated. The test was carried out to investigate a cause of insulating layer short between same-phase stator windings installed in a slot. A mechanical stress from frequent start-stop repeats of elevator equipments was applied to the experimental model of stator windings. In this paper, the fundamental characteristics of insulation resistance, dielectric loss tangent and partial discharge voltage are shown and the effects of the thermal and mechanical stress on the insulating layer life are discussed
