Abstract
In this paper, we propose a multi-source multicast structure combining with a distributed FEC scheme to overcome burst packet loss problems caused by peer departures in P2P live streaming systems. The analytical results show that the burst packet loss can be eliminated by using multi-source structure with appropriate FEC parameters. A prototype system is implemented to verify that the proposed system is practically feasible and effective. The experimental results show the proposed system can effectively overcome the burst packet loss by taking advantage on the multiple source structure with the distributed FEC scheme.
