Abstract :
The proposed thyristor circuit breaker (TCB) topology requires no external rectifier, resulting in cost savings. It is capable of achieving auto reclose times compatible with international standards. Analysis and simulation studies show that improved short-circuit interruption performance over high speed mechanical circuit breakers can be achieved and that the design must be based on the highest rate of the rise of the fault current which is expected
