Abstract
A three-phase pulsewidth modulation algorithm is presented which is optimal in the following ways: it produces the maximum line-to-line output voltage for a given DC bus voltage without overmodulation; it allows full output voltage control from 0 to 100%; and it maximizes the theoretical lowest order harmonic frequency while minimizing the number of switchings per fundamental cycle. The optimal algorithm is compared with two currently used PWM methods. Experimental results for various load conditions on a 125 kVA inverter are presented
