Abstract :
Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET) is a Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET), and it can improve road safety and optimize road traffic. VANET has two forms: Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) communication. The V2V communication can be used to transmit information about traffic conditions and / or vehicle accidents. This paper provides an applicative solution for V2V communication using IEEE 802.15.4. The 2.4GHz transceiver which is compliant to IEEE 802.15.4-2006 is used in hardware. The Receiver Input Power (RIP), Packet Error Rate (PER) and communication range are evaluated based on the experimental data. The results show that IEEE 802.15.4 can meet the requirements of the emergency message transmission in V2V communication and the solution is quite effective.
