Abstract :
In digital receiver, automatic gain control (AGC) is usually adopted to solve the problem of large dynamic range of received signals. This paper provides a hybrid AGC algorithm which takes advantage of both feedback AGC and feed forward AGC for burst communication systems. A new efficient signal power estimation method is proposed, which can work in high sample frequency and consumes less resource. The proposed AGC has been hardware implemented and tested with TETRA system. Test results show that it can cope with large dynamic range input signals and has a short settling time. The AGC algorithm proposed by this paper can also be used for other wireless communication systems.
