Abstract
A new concept is developed and discussed for the acceleration of charged particles and plasma beams. It is based on the use of an arrangement of orthogonal vortex electric and magnetic fields located in planes which are transverse to the longitudinal axis of the accelerator and are periodically reversed in those planes to produce an EH-undulated field pattern. A number of novel characteristic physical effects of this system have been modeled by theoretical methods based on single particle and self-consistent analysis and those results are presented here.
