Abstract :
In this paper we cast the light on the innovation of using FEC in optical communication systems, and then we study the effects of using new coding schemes (i.e. PCCC, SCBC and CZC) as FEC in optical communication systems. It is seen that coding offers considerable coding gain, but with reasonable encoding/decoding complexity.
