Abstract :
Many problems in radar scattering, antenna and microwave fields can be solved by applying the method of moments (MoM) to the surface integral equations (SIEs). In the general case, very efficient modeling is achieved using quadrilateral patches and higher order basis functions. However, such modeling can show poor accuracy if the proximity effect is pronounced. In such cases, the results cannot be improved much by increasing the order of higher order basis functions, but by proper meshing of plates. The main goal of the paper is to present an algorithm for optimal meshing of quadrilaterals and, more generally, polygonal surfaces in the case of a pronounced proximity effect.
