Abstract
Development efforts conducted on an IGUR-3 accelerator resulted in finding the mode for the formation of a powerful electron beam with a current density, on accelerating tube´s anode, of /spl ges/200 kA/cm/sup 2/. The operational voltage of the accelerating tube is /spl sim/6 MV; its current /spl sim/55 kA. The accelerating tube runs in the plasma-filled diode mode. The focusing of the electron beam is attained by means of plasma produced at the cathode and anode due to the prepulse energy. When running in the bremsstrahlung pulse generation mode on an anode area of /spl sim/1.5 cm/sup 2/, the yield of bremsstrahlung obtained was /spl sim/10/sup 13/ R/s with a pulse duration of /spl sim/25 ns.
