Abstract :
Nowadays people are often concerned that they have symptoms from exposures to environment in the buildings where they work. Hence it is necessary to monitor indoor environment in a real-time and long-term manner. Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is a preferable approach which shows great potential for us to interact with the physical world. In this paper, we propose a web-based indoor environment monitoring system using WSN, which consists of three parts: fourteen wireless sensors, a base station and a data management application. Sensors periodically activate their own processing unit and send the acquired values to the base station, while the base station processes the sensing data and uploads them to the database and web server. The data management application deployed in the server is in charge of providing a visual interface between the user and the sensor network. The proposed system can measure the environmental parameters like temperature, humidity, light, sound, and oxygen to determine the environmental health of an indoor space.
