Abstract
The ease with which avionics embedded software can be modified to overcome existing faults and the extent to which this software can be improved are crucial quality factors to consider in the design and development of an avionics embedded software system. This paper analyzes current research in the area of maintainability measures. The maintainability of a system is a factor that is designed into the system but most of the maintainability measures available consider software after it is implemented. Other methods of designing for maintainability are considered and suggested for the design of embedded software
