Abstract :
Design and results of a dual-aperture coupled rectangular microstrip patch antenna element, suitable for portable ultra small aperture terminals (USATs), are presented The dual-band dual-polarised antenna element achieves 21% input impedance bandwidth at S- and C-bands. Beam squinting problem is rectified with a tread off between isolation and coupling slot´s position closer to the patch center. The new antenna yields broadside radiation patterns and high isolation > 30 dB and a gain > 7 dBi over S- and C-band frequencies.
